In one of the funniest developments of world history, U.S. forces have successfully captured the socialist dictator of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, in an operation that lasted about three hours. Despite the best attempts of the impotent cult known as the Revolutionary Communist International, no one was able to ‘mobilise’ in the face of American power. No sooner had they started their usual bleating than Maduro was on board a plane and being flown out of the country. Seeing the panicked tweets of RCI spokesman Jorge Martin on the situation has nevertheless been very enjoyable.
To see this wretched regime crumble in the face of American power within a matter of hours, and to have its own head of state, the loudmouth tyrant Maduro, wrenched from his hole with such ruthless efficiency, is very heartening to all those lovers of freedom and haters of socialist tyranny. I never thought I’d say this, but well done Donald Trump. (Still the worst President in American history.)

International law is an illusion. What matters is strength. The forces of Western liberalism must not be afraid to use this strength to crush their enemies when given the opportunity. Weak-mindedness on this issue is what will hand the world over to Russia, China and the forces of Islamism. Do they give a fig for international law? Absolutely not. Do Trots and tankies care when they breach it? No, they conduct apologia for them and run interference for their every misdeed, and direct all their intention on the supposed evils of Western imperialism. Any Marxist worth their salt knows international law is simply a bourgeois illusion masking ‘class struggle’. I hold to the view that international law is useful as a framework, but it should not fetter liberal states from acting against civilisational rivals. I ask you, did Stalin respect international law when he imposed Communism on Eastern Europe? Putin in fact tried to do precisely this. Remember when he sent some Wagner Group goons to Kyiv to conduct the kidnapping mission in the early days of the war? The ‘anti-war left’ did not condemn this. In fact they thought this was hilarious, and would have been laughing and celebrating if this kidnap attempt had succeeded. At best, they would blame Ukraine for ‘provoking’ the invasion. I do not think there is any equivalence between Zelensky, a democratically-elected leader of a liberal democracy, and a fascist dictator like Putin.

At the same time, Venezuela would be better off even under a moron like Trump than under their incompetent narco-Stalinist ex-despot Maduro, who in 13 years as President has slaughtered more people than Pinochet in his 18 years in power in Chile.
